Patrick Quinn

Tetrad Program PhD Student

Hello! I am a graduate student in the tetrad program, advised by Bjoern Schwer and co-advised by Jacob Young. I studied psychology at Humboldt State University where I began conducting research under John Steele investigating how disruptions in the autophagy pathway can contribute to neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinsons Disease. I later worked as a technician for several years at Stanford University in Crystal Mackall’s lab helping advance CAR T-cell immunotherapy for cancer.

My current interests are in mechanistic and translational research relating to glioblastoma and cellular senescence. I value kindness, collaboration, and a supportive learning environment just as much as I value rigorous science. Outside of lab I train in mixed martial arts at the Skrap Pack academy in North beach (come check us out!) and spend whatever time I can with friends and family.
