On the cover of this month’s issue of the Journal of Neurosurgery, our lab highlights the potential of focused ultrasound (FUS) in the treatment of gliomas!

This collaborative review, led by Dr. Jacob Young and co-authored with UCSF neurosurgeons Dr. Manish Aghi and Dr. John de Groot (Chief of Neuro-Oncology), outlines how focused ultrasound (FUS) may help overcome key challenges in glioma therapy.

The article highlights how low-frequency FUS, when combined with microbubble injection, can temporarily and safely disrupt the blood-brain barrier to improve drug delivery. It also explores the potential of high-frequency FUS as a non-invasive technique for tumor ablation.
