Fatima Abasova is a 5th-year medical student at the University of Health Sciences, Hamidiye International School of Medicine in Istanbul, aspiring to become a neurosurgeon-neuroscientist. She is deeply committed to integrating clinical neurosurgery with cutting-edge neuroscience research. Her long-term goal is to understand the cellular and molecular mechanisms of the brain tumor microenvironment and how these factors influence tumor progression, invasion, and resistance to therapy. Fatima is especially drawn to translational research that bridges basic science and surgical practice, with the ultimate aim of improving patient outcomes in glioblastoma and other primary brain tumors. She is also interested in developing preclinical models and exploring novel therapeutic strategies that can be translated into effective surgical and adjunctive treatments.
