Gigi Macakiage
Gigi Macakiage is an undergraduate apprentice, currently attending UC Berkeley as an Integrative Biology major and Gender and Women's Studies minor, with a deep interest in understanding the molecular and cellular interactions within the tumor microenvironment, particularly in glioblastoma. In the lab, Gigi is gaining hands-on experience with a variety of assays and experimental techniques, including cell culture, mouse surgeries, biofluorescent imaging, tissue harvesting and dissociation, and flow cytometry. She hopes to help bridge research with practical applications in neuro-oncology, advancing our understanding of glioblastoma, improving therapeutic outcomes. With the skills she gains from this position, she aims to pursue graduate studies in the future.
