UCSF Assistant Professor Jacob Young

Jacob Young, MD

Prinicipal Investigator

Jacob Young, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Neurological Surgery and a Principal Investigator in the Brain Tumor Center at UCSF. Dr. Young’s translational research program has two primary goals: understanding tumor cell and microenvironment evolution in response to immunotherapies and improving locoregional drug delivery. He supplements his laboratory work with clinical trials and clinical research programs to comprehensively work on improving outcomes for brain tumor patients.

In recognition of his research, Dr. Young was selected for the prestigious Physician-Scientist Fellowship by the Chan-Zuckerberg Biohub, and he is the recipient of a Young Investigator Award by the American Society of Clinical Oncology. His work has been supported by the National Institutes of Health, National Cancer Institute, Focused Ultrasound Foundation, and American Association of Neurological Surgeons. He is an active member in the Society for Neuro-Oncology, where he is currently a co-chair of the Young Investigators Committee.

During neurosurgery residency at the University of California, San Francisco Dr. Young’s training focused on the removal of tumors within eloquent brain regions. Developing new therapies inside and outside the operating room to improve outcomes for brain tumor patients forms the foundation for Dr. Young’s clinical and research practice.
